H.J. Heinz Company Foundation

The H.J. Heinz Company Foundation strives to make a positive impact in the global community through strategic investments to promote the health and nutritional needs of children and families in areas where our employees live and work.

The Foundation makes a difference in thousands of lives each year through our focus on three core initiatives:

  • Heinz Micronutrient Campaign, our signature global Corporate Social Responsibility program;
  • Strategic Grants Program that focuses on nutrition, diversity and healthy communities; and
  • Heinz employee engagement that benefits people and communities

Heinz Micronutrient Campaign

The Heinz Micronutrient Campaign (HMC) is a groundbreaking initiative that helps malnourished children around the world live healthier lives. The Campaign develops and distributes vitamin and mineral powders and other innovative products that treat and prevent iron-deficiency anemia.

The HMC has provided these life-enhancing supplements to 3.5 million children in 15 developing nations. The HMC is developing sustainable models for eradicating malnutrition through partnerships with local governments and NGOs.

In 2010, the HMC was introduced in Africa and in 2011, the program expanded to the Western Hemisphere with a program in Haiti. The HMC is focused on tailoring solutions that deliver essential vitamins and minerals to meet the diverse cultural needs of the regions where we operate.

The Foundation also encourages Heinz employees to get involved in their communities, become volunteers for charitable organizations and, in short, do their part to improve the lives of others. The Heinz Employees Lending Public Service program encourages employee volunteerism while providing a monetary reward for their organizations to receive up to a $500 grant annually, based on their hours of service.

Heinz strives to be a generous benefactor in the communities where we operate. For instance, in our hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the H. J. Heinz Company Foundation is a highly visible donor to organizations such as the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Pittsburgh Public Theater and Operation Warm, to name just a few recipients.

The Community Grants Program is a joint H. J. Heinz Company Foundation/ Heinz North America funded program which provides grant dollars to Heinz factory locations for community investment.

Each year, committees from each HNA affiliate chooses organizations in their respective communities which will benefit from these grants in the areas of nutrition, diversity , and fostering healthy communities. These organizations include food banks, abuse shelters, educational institutions and other organizations which help the people in their communities wherever needed.
