Heinz Healthier Foods
One of the World’s Most Beloved Super Foods
As the world’s largest producer of tomato products, Heinz possesses unparalleled tomato knowledge. It all begins with our renowned HeinzSeed program. The six billion hybrid tomato seeds we supply annually to farmers that grow our tomatoes and to our commercial customers produce superior-tasting and higher-yielding tomatoes.
Tomatoes are a source of abundant goodness, with processed tomatoes having even higher levels of nutrients simply because they’re concentrated. In fact, tomatoes are one of the top five food sources of vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, potassium and fiber. They’re also excellent sources of phytochemicals, polyphenols and carotenoids. They contain high concentrations of lycopene, a powerful antioxidant.
Good for You, Good for the Earth
Heinz organic products feature the same great taste as all our foods, but only include organically grown ingredients.
Our Organic Heinz® Ketchup, Classico® Organic Pasta Sauce and Organic Heinz® Baby Food in the U.K. are just a few terrific examples.
All Heinz organic products are certified by independent parties, such as the USDA in the United States.
Better Choices for Healthier Living
The majority of trans fats are formed when liquid oils are made into solid fats. A small portion of trans fats occur naturally, primarily in animal products. Trans fats made by changing oils to solid fats increase the LDL or "bad" cholesterol, a risk factor for heart disease. The trans fat that occurs naturally has not been shown to increase heart disease risk.
Heinz joined the battle to reduce the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol. By removing trans fats from our entire line of Ore-Ida potatoes, we removed 13.3 million pounds of trans fats from the American diet. We've also removed them from our poultry and meatloaf gravies in our Boston Market® line, our Poppers® Cream Cheese and Breaded Cream Cheese Bites, and our Delimex® products.
A Keen Sensitivity to Your Needs
At Heinz, we have the utmost concern about the impact our foods have on the lives of our consumers. Some consumers have allergies to certain ingredients and foods, and they must strictly avoid these to prevent symptoms. Reading food labels and ingredient statements is the best way to steer clear of foods that can trigger reactions. Our clear, easy-to-read labeling helps consumers who have common food allergies make informed choices before enjoying our brands.
*Product formulations can change so consumers should carefully read product labels to ensure that their favorite Heinz products remain allergen-free.
Making the Most of Every Delicious Bite
Functional foods provide inherent health benefits beyond basic nutrition. These benefits include the goodness of protective antioxidants in tomatoes, extra vitamin C in many fruits and vegetables, or healthful omega-3 oils in nuts and fish. Heinz is committed to enhancing our offering of functional foods. Just one of many examples includes our omega-3 enriched Heinz pasta in the U.K.
Fortified foods are foods that get their added nutritional value during processing. As proof of our commitment to offering you healthful choices, more than 400 Heinz foods have been improved by reducing sodium, sugar and fat; eliminating trans fats; and increasing the fruit, vegetable and/or protein content. For example, in China, Heinz fortifies our infant cereals with iron and vitamins; in Australia, our Fruit Splatz boast 100% fruit juice.
These targets have been developed in line with each country's national dietary recommendations as well as non-government organizations, such as the Heart Foundation in New Zealand.
Heinz and Kosher — Two Longstanding Traditions
Heinz was the first brand of processed foods to carry the “Circle U” symbol, which signifies that the food was prepared in strict accordance with kosher dietary laws. In fact, Heinz partnered with the Orthodox Union in 1923 to establish that symbol. When you see the “Circle U” symbol on any Heinz food product, you can be sure it’s kosher. Kosher Foods »

- Heinz Baked Beanz: 32% less sodium
