FOUNDATION GUIDELINES
- I. NATURE OF GRANTS
- The Foundation considers requests from eligible organizations that fall within the described areas of interest. Organizations should indicate how their proposed project fits the areas of interest. Generally, the Foundation does not make loans and does not provide grants for individuals, equipment, conferences, travel, general scholarships, religious programs, political campaigns, and unsolicited research projects.
- II. GEOGRAPHIC CONSIDERATION
- Grants are typically awarded in areas where the H.J. Heinz Company has significant operations.
- III. ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS
- Only organizations that have 501(c)(3) tax status under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code are eligible for support domestically. International organizations are encouraged to submit a letter of inquiry prior to preparing a full proposal to determine eligibility. International organizations will need to provide a 501(c)(3) determination letter from the United States Internal Revenue Service or sufficient documentation to demonstrate that the non-U.S. grantee is the equivalent of a U.S. public charity. Documentation should be provided in English.
- IV. SUSTAINABILITY OF PROJECT
- The organization must be able to demonstrate plans to continue the project after the grant funds end.
- V. ACCOUNTABILITY
- The organization must provide financial and evaluative reports on the use of grant funds.
Issuance of a grant is a discrete event and does not reflect continuing support for the organization.
The Foundation will also accept proposals in the Common Grant Application Format. All proposals must be submitted in writing. Electronic submissions are not accepted at this time.
