Finding Healthier Habits Through Lifestyle Health Coaching
- Q: What made you want to contact a Lifestyle Health Coach?
- Well, I’m a big man, but I’ve always been healthy and had normal test results. My doctor even said, “If I wasn’t looking at you, based on your test results, I’d say you’re the picture of good health.” But, two years ago I started feeling bad. I’d heard that Heinz provides Lifestyle Health coaching, so I completed the My Lifestyle Profile to qualify for a coach. I wanted to lose weight and feel good again.
- Q: What were your initial thoughts about your coach?
- A: Her name is Val and she is so incredibly positive. She helped me to lose some weight, and I started feeling much better. And then, life got in the way.
- Q: What happened?
- A: I went in for a physical in October, and I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. My cholesterol had gone up and my blood pressure was high. I got back in touch with Val because she had been so helpful in the past. She helped get me back on track. Since then, I’ve lost 66 pounds and am no longer considered diabetic.
- Q: What is the best part about having a Lifestyle Health Coach?
- A: Val is tremendous at helping me set realistic goals and showing me that she really cares. I understand that my health concerns aren’t going to be fixed overnight, and Val keeps me in check. She’s helped me so much that I just don’t want to let her down.
- Q: What was the best advice Val has given to you?
- A: Val wanted me to keep a food log of what I ate. It’s made a huge difference and has made me more accountable for my choices. She’s also encouraged me to take the stairs when I can. At first, I was out of breath quickly, but not anymore.
- Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking about Lifestyle Health Coaching?
- A: I’d say check your ego at the door. We all need help, so just take it. The only thing stopping you is you. I still have a long way to go, but thanks to Val, I have more energy, I’m sleeping better and my overall quality of life has improved.
- Q: What made you want to contact a Lifestyle Health Coach?
- A: I completed the My Lifestyle Profile and found out that I had some health issues that needed to be addressed. My cholesterol was high and I was overweight, both of which were causing personal strife. That’s when I realized something needed to be done.
- Q: What were your initial thoughts about your coach?
- A: I talked to Katie a few times about what the program offered. We decided to attack diet issues first. Katie convinced me to keep track of what I ate for five days and also helped devise a meal plan for me to follow.
- Q: What is the best part about having a Lifestyle Health Coach?
- A: Katie has helped me not only change my diet, but my overall lifestyle. I now am more health conscious. I count fat grams, eat celery and peanut butter instead of nachos and even keep old editions of Health Connection for healthy tips. I feel like my life has started over.
- Q: What was the best advice Katie has given to you?
- A: Katie helped me to take a step back and look at what I was eating. She made it easy to see how I could change my lifestyle by making healthier choices and taking small steps to build up my fitness. Her advice is always helpful and I look forward to talking to her every time.
- Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking about Lifestyle Health Coaching?
- A: I would recommend this program to everybody. I’ve helped friends lose weight by sharing what I’ve learned from Katie. I have more enthusiasm, energy and focus. I even had to buy a whole new wardrobe because I lost four inches off my waist. I’m living the best I’ve lived in the past 30 years.
