Healthful Product Successes
We’ve improved the health benefits of many of our products by offering wholesome new varieties and reducing ingredients of concern, such as sodium and trans fat. Some of our recent successes include:
Continental Europe
- Mayonnaise and Bénédicta® sauces were introduced with reduced fat content.
Australia
- Golden Circle® brand offers healthful fruit juices, canned fruit, vegetables, jams and baby food products.
- Heinz Good Stuff® is a new line of frozen meals and shelf stable products for kids, with no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors and at least one whole serving of vegetables in every meal.
United States
- Heinz has a no-salt-added and reduced-sugar ketchup.
- Our work on Ore-Ida® frozen potatoes and in our Foodservice division has removed more than 18 million pounds of trans fat from consumers’ diets.
- Significant sodium reductions have been made in several of our frozen foods, including: Bagel Bites® (23% reduction); Boston Market® meals (23% reduction); and Delimex® Beef Taquitos (30% reduction).
Italy
- Only 100% natural ingredients are used in Plasmon® baby food.
New Zealand
- SteamFresh® is a product line that enables consumers to quickly prepare nutrient-rich vegetables in convenient microwaveable packages.
Canada
- Heinz offers a variety of tomato juices with 50% less sodium.
- Chef Francisco® soups were reformulated to eliminate all trans fat and reduce sodium by 20%.
- “Superfruits” have been added to Heinz Fruit Berry Blends infant feeding products.
- Children’s canned pasta has been converted to whole grain.
- Fiber prebiotics are being added to our Wellness brand line of dressings.
United Kingdom
- Sodium reductions have ranged from 15% in bean products to up to 60% in children’s pasta.
- Reduced sugar and salt Heinz® Ketchup, HP® Sauce and Heinz Beanz Snap Pots® have been launched, along with an expanded range of Weight Watchers® from Heinz® varieties.
